This spring hit the game bird enclosures hard and to correct future problems, Calkins Nature Area staff member Sanford Morton began to build new and improved game bird enclosures, with the help of Jeff Sundholm, Bob Banner, Micheal Shaa, Lucas Wagner, and Jason Reifschnieder.  All enclosures will be removed and replaced with 8 x 8 enclosures, treated lumber, and heavy gauge wire to keep the birds safe and secure.  Hardin County Conservation and Friends of Calkins Nature Area are funding this project which we hope to have completed by the beginning of September.  If you would like to donate to this project please contact Calkins Nature Area at 641.648.9878.
