Youth Ice Fishing Derby

Saturday, February 11, 2023

The event will be on February 11th and onsite registration starts at 7:30 am. Kids under the age of 16 fish for FREE with a licensed adult. Anglers will fish from 8 am to 12 pm. Prize giveaways and a meal will be provided following the event. The meal portion will be hosted at Pine Lake Wildlife Club, just north of Upper Pine Lake.
We have some MASSIVE sponsors for this year's event, and we appreciate their generosity. Bass Pros Shops, Vexilar, Otter Outdoors, Mills Fleet Farm, and Delta Waterfowl have all made prize contributions to support our youth anglers. This year, a brand new vexilar unit, an ice shack, bass pro shops gift cards, rods, reels, jigs, spoons, ice scoops, and many more prizes are available to win thanks to our partners. The best part is that only kids are eligible to win these prizes, so we will have some very lucky youth anglers following this event!
Bring your own ice fishing equipment if you'd like. If you've never ice fished before and are curious about getting kick started, we will have staff and volunteers to act as your "guides" on the ice for the day. Our guides will have pre-set up shacks, bait, rods and reels, fish finders/flashers, heaters, and even buckets to sit on if you'd like to try your hand at ice fishing. This is also a great way to get your children interested in the sport without having to spend loads of money on gear. All you need to do is bring some warm clothes and good boots if you plan on using one of our guides!
Last year, we had a number of people ask about 4 wheelers on the ice. 4 wheelers are fine as long as they are registered appropriately with the state of Iowa. If you have any further questions about the event, please contact our staff members at 641-648-9878.
