Thanks to Eldora/South Hardin Girls Scouts

Girl Scouts Bugs

Thanks to the Eldora/South Hardin Girl Scouts for coming out to earn their bug badges in October.

We caught predacious diving beetles, dragonfly nymphs, damselfly nymphs, scuds, water boatmans, and backswimmers in the nature center pond. The scouts seemed to like the couple dozen minnows the best. We also caught a baby bluegill, which is a first for this pond as far as we know. It was a hatchling individual that was less than half an inch long. Could have come from up stream, but we are unsure.

Thanks for a fun evening scouts!
